The 2025 Ford Escape PHEV 4dr Front-Wheel Drive is a comfortable, efficient compact SUV. It is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) only model that comes in a single trim. Ford has announced that it will cease production of the Escape at the end of 2025, but the vehicle is expected to be available for purchase through the end of 2026.
Performance and efficiency
The 2025 Ford Escape PHEV features a powertrain that combines a 2.5L iVCT Atkinson Cycle I-4 hybrid engine with an electric motor.
Horsepower: It delivers a combined system output of 210 horsepower.
Acceleration: According to a test by MotorTrend, it is quicker than the standard Escape Hybrid but slower than some plug-in rivals, with a 0-60 mph time of 8.1 seconds.
Handling: The vehicle's handling is described as uninspired, with some body roll around corners. The steering can feel overly light and disconnected from the road.
Fuel economy: Based on EPA estimates for the mechanically identical 2023 model, the 2025 PHEV gets a combined 101 MPGe and 37 miles of all-electric range on a full charge.
Charging: On a 240-volt Level 2 charger, a full charge can be achieved in as little as 3.5 hours, and it does not offer fast-charging capability.
