There are plenty of reasons for Canadian consumers to consider the Ford Escape as their next compact crossover SUV. For starters, the 2019 Ford Escape is one of the sportiest looking crossovers around, while there’s much more to recommend about the Ford SUV here than just its good looks. Let’s look at some of the features that are standard and available with the 2019 Ford Escape.

Trim levels

Ford keeps things straightforward with its trim levels these days, unlike some European manufacturers that can go a little over the top with far too many different models for buyers to choose from. There are four to choose from in the 2019 lineup, which are the S, the SE, the SEL and the top-of-the-range Titanium.

Convenience

Crossovers must have at least a reasonable amount of practicality and utility, and convenience is the name of the game with the compact Ford. Intelligent Access with push-button start gets you off on your journey in the most convenient of ways, and if you need to haul cargo there’s plenty of room with the second-row seats folded down. Getting stuff in and out can be a breeze too, especially with the available hands-free, foot-activated power liftgate. All models come with a rearview camera to make reversing as safe and easy as possible, and a Reverse Sensing System is also available for extra convenience and peace of mind.

Technology

Most of us love the latest tech, and there’s plenty of it to enjoy in the 2019 Ford Escape. Lots of advanced safety tech is available, such as the Blind Spot Information System, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support. The Enhanced Active Park Assist is a cool available feature that takes the stress out of parking and finding a parking space is a breeze, with plenty of other cool things that can be done by using the FordPass Connect app and Wi-Fi hotspot.

Amenities

Every Ford Escape is a nice place to be on a journey, with several added extras that make life inside the Escape even more enjoyable. The available Panoramic Vista Roof has a large forward panel that tilts up or opens fully, and it also features a fixed rear skylight. The Vista Roof lets in loads of natural light for everyone inside the Escape. If you live somewhere that gets particularly cold at times, the cold weather features the Escape includes will make life much more bearable in winter. As well as a windshield wiper de-icer standard on the S trim and above, remote start, heated mirrors, heated front seats, and an engine block heater are standard on SE models and higher. Go as far as the range-topping Titanium and you even get a standard heated steering wheel.

Engines

There may be only four trim levels, but the 2019 Ford Escape also has three different engines for buyers to choose from. The S comes standard with a 165 horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, while the SE and SEL get a 1.5-litre EcoBoost with 179 horsepower. The final, and most powerful engine is a 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo that’s standard with the Titanium and available for all-wheel-drive versions of the SEL, and this one puts an impressive 245 horsepower at the driver’s disposal.
